Masonic Hurricane Relief
To the Masters and Secretaries
of the Subordinate Lodges
From: Walton Clapp, Grand Secretary
Subject: Disaster Relief
We have received numbers of phone calls and emails from lodges seeking
information about contributing to the disaster in Louisiana, Alabama,
Mississippi and Florida. The Masonic Service Association just last
week mailed an appeal for Florida for the two previous hurricanes
that blasted the panhandle area. We expect an additional appeal for
the disaster caused by hurricane Katrina to be forthcoming.
If you want to make a contribution to assist our brethren in the states
that have suffered this devastation, you should make your checks payable
to:
The Masonic Service Association, 8120 Fenton Street, Silver
Springs, MD 20910-4785.
Please mark your check "Hurricane Relief."
All donations collected through the Masonic Service Association will
be sent to the affected Gulf Coast states through the respective Grand
Lodges for distribution. The Grand Lodge of North Carolina is making
a contribution from the charity fund.
Please take this opportunity to make a contribution. Our Grand Lodge
has benefited from a similar appeals when we have suffered from these
storms. It is now our time to make a contribution. Please include
information of this appeal in your next newsletters to your members
as well as on your web sites and in your meetings.
The Philalethes Society has set up a secure website on behalf of the
Masonic Service Association for those preferring to use credit cards
to make donations. Please note that the billing on your credit card
statement will read The Philalethes Society. All money received via
this site will be transferred to the Masonic Service Association of
North America Relief Appeal for distribution.
The
address for the site is: http://freemasonry.org
Thank you very much for your help.
